 We will hold Welcome Party (Spring) for International Students on Sunday, June 20, 2021.

 New and current students are welcome! It is a good opportunity to connect with not only KU students but also the students of other universities in Kumamoto Prefecture.

Applications for 2021 Spring semester Japanese Language Course for Beginners (JLCB) are now open!

These courses are for Kumamoto University student/faculty/researcher or their spouses.

 

Kurokami Campus JLCB (Spring-session 1)

  • Tuesdays & Fridays from June 4th to August 10th 14:00-16:10
  • Entry level (Kumamoto University Japanese Level: K1, for those who never learned Japanese)
  • Course capacity of 6 people. *If the applicant number exceeds, participants will be selected by a lottery.

Announcement of Calligraphy Exhibition of Prof. Yuji Jinno

A Calligraphy exhibition of Prof. Yuji Jinno of the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (joint post of Faculty of Education) will be held at the lounge of College of Cross-Cultural and Multidisciplinary building. Please feel free to come and view the exhibition.

 

Date/Time: From January 8 (Wed) to February 12 (Wed), 9: 00-17: 30 (excluding weekends and holidays)

Place: Lounge of College of Cross-Cultural and Multidisciplinary building

 

In addition, a lecture entitled “Calligraphy Arts, Culture, and a Works Commentary” will be held in the Lounge of the College of Cross-Cultural and Multidisciplinary Studies from 12:00 to 12:45 on Monday, January 20. Please feel free to join.

Kumamoto University 2020 Spring Program

 The Spring Program offered by the College of Cross-Cultural and Multidisciplinary Studies at Kumamoto University provides international students who have an interest in studying abroad in Japan with a chance to experience life as an international student at Kumamoto University.

This program will be conducted in English.

 Tuesday, February 25 –Thursday, March 5 2020 (10 Days)

 

Location

 Kumamoto University, with educational excursions around Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan

 

Eligibility

Participation in this program is open to students who:

 ★are undergraduate students studying at universities with which Kumamoto University has agreement for academic or student exchange

 ★have English language proficiency equals to or greater than IELTS Score 5.0

 ★have not previously participated in any of Kumamoto University’s Summer or Spring Programs

 ★have or will obtain travel insurance before departing for Japan

 

*Please note a minimum of 20 students are required to implement the program. Program capacity is limited to 90 students.

*Note: A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to all students who successfully complete the contents of the program.

Program Fee

 100,000 Japanese Yen

○ includes accommodation, class fees, field trip fees, and breakfast.

× does not include the cost of transportation to or from Japan, the cost of transportation within Japan, or the cost of meals (other than breakfast) during the program.

 

 ★In principle, the participation fee should be collected at the sending university and wire transferred to Kumamoto University account by Friday, November 29, 2019. Cancellations after this date are subject to cancellation fees. Students who do not make the payment by the set deadline will not be accepted to the program.

 

Scholarship

 Participants in the English Course of the Spring Program may apply for a scholarship of 80,000 Japanese Yen, provided by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) and Kumamoto University. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must meet the following 3 conditions:

     ★Only students from the following countries are eligible to apply:

      Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Nepal, Cambodia

     ★Students must have a GPA greater than or equal to 2.3

     ★Scholarship recipients may not receive any other scholarships for this program which exceed 80,000 Japanese Yen.

 Please note that there are a limited number of scholarships available. Scholarships will be awarded based on the GPA scores of applicants.

Notification of Selection Result

 The selection results will be sent to applicants and the Universities via e-mail after the deadline of application(2019.10.31.)

 

Visa

 An entry visa to Japan is required for students from certain countries. As soon as selection

results are determined, related visa documents will be sent to the responsible persons at your university. Please apply for your visa as soon as possible at the nearest Japanese Embassy or Consulate.
