THE 2 DIVISIONS

Japanese Language Classes

The Division for Multilingual and Cultural Education offers Japanese classes as below for our students and researchers depending on their Japanese level and status.

 


 

♦ Japanese Language Classes (Foreign language subjects in General Education Courses):  Japanese level  K7 to K3

 

・Undergraduate students, including students in the Short-Term Exchange Program and students in the Japanese Studies Program may enroll in most of these classes for academic credits.

・The classes are also available to audit as non-credit for graduate students, special auditors/special research students in graduate schools, research students, and researchers.

*Please check your Japanese level first by referring to p.2 and p.4 of the Japanese Classes Guidebook (English version).

  Japanese language levels are assigned based on JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) N1 to N5, Kumamoto University Japanese level K7 to K1.

*A student ID is required when registering for courses at SOSEKI. If you are a new student and do not know when your student ID will be distributed, please contact your faculty to confirm when it will be distributed.

 


 

♦ Intensive Japanese Course:  Japanese level  K3 to K1

 

This non-credit course is for “Intensive Japanese Course for Japanese Government Scholarship students”,and “Teacher-Training students”. Other international students who are regular graduate students may audit classes. Please make sure to inquire before registering.

♦ Japanese Language Course for Beginners:  Japanese level  K1

 

This non-credit course is designed for Kumamoto University students, researchers and their spouses to help obtain the basic Japanese language skills required in daily lives. The course begins at the introductory level of hiragana and katakana.
