On November 8, the \u2018Multidisciplinary Symposium on Contemporary Global Issues 2025\u2019, hosted by the Center for International Education (CIE), was successfully held. This annual symposium aims to disseminate the CIE’s interdisciplinary approaches to addressing challenges in today’s global society, through guest lectures and student presentations.<\/p>\n

At the opening session, Professor Armando T. Quitain introduced the multidisciplinary and global education initiatives of the Center for International Education (CIE), followed by a presentation from Lecturer Lander Sims on the ongoing Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the keynote lectures, Dr. Lorafe Lozano\uff08University of San Carlos, Professor\uff09 emphasized the importance of sustainable development in island communities, while Ms. Chiara Fusari\uff08University of Zurich, Teaching and Research Assistant\uff09 discussed bottom-up approaches to community building that enhance inclusivity in society.<\/p>\n

The symposium also featured presentations by three student groups selected from posters created in the GLC Foundation Seminar on the theme \u201cProblem Solving and Leadership.\u201d Their presentations were followed by lively discussions and Q&A sessions. Based on voting results, the group \u201cTomorrow\u2019s Loom\u201d received the Best Poster Presentation Award.<\/p>\n

Through this symposium, students deepened their understanding of SDGs and Society 5.0, while further broadening their international perspectives.<\/p>\n
